Description
Fiberply L-101 is a unidirectional, nonwoven, flame retardant fiberglass prepreg with an epoxy resin matrix. The matrix is coated onto the fibers using a solution coating method which gives superior fiber wetting and improved mechanical properties. Fiberply L-101 is designed to replace woven fiberglass fabrics where the load path is known and the designer can idealize the structure with specific ply orientation.
Advantages of L-101
- Superior mechanical properties when compared to composites of woven prepreg because the fiberply process eliminates breaking, twisting, and intertwining of fibers caused by the weaving process.
- Improved strength and stiffness to weight ratios because excess resin deposits inherent with woven fiberglass prepregs are eliminated.
- Excellent handling qualities using L-101 are due to the adhesive nature of the resin matrix.
- Reduced cost relative to woven prepregs because the complicated steps of weaving, stitching, heat- cleaning, and refinishing have been eliminated. The fiberply process produces adhesive prepreg directly from fiber and resin.
